Would you go paddleboarding in Antarctica? It the coldest, driest, windiest place on the planet! Quark Expeditions began offering this epic excursion two years ago. Only a few hundred people have had the chance to try it so far. In other words, this experience makes you a true pioneer.
Water temperature is usually around 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t worry! Paddlers wear a dry suit, thick gloves and booties to keep the body heat in. If you took a tumble in, the dry suit would keep the layers underneath from getting wet. But that rarely happens. The boards are super sturdy and stable.
There’s a good chance you’ll spot penguins darting beneath your board. And it’s not uncommon to see crabeater seals, orcas and humpback whales. It’s completely overwhelming in a very good way.
